Meaning – By one more than the one before
Use – This Sutra is used to get a next number to given number
Eg – To get a next number to 92,add 1 to92 thus next number =92 + 1=93
Ekadhika process can be effectively used both in division and multiplication - Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah
Meaning – All from nine and last from ten
Use – This sutra is used to get a compliment number from list functional base.
Eg – To get a compliment number of 4285 from functional base 10000
Subtract 4,2,8 from 9 and last digit 5 from 10.
9-4=5, 9-2 = 7, 9-8=1, 10-5=5
Thus required number =5715
This can be effectively applied in multiplication of numbers, which are nearer to the bases like 10,100,1000 etc ..to the powers of 10. The procedure of multiplication using Nikhilam involves minimum number of steps, space , time saving and only mental calculation.
